Whenever I post in a thread at Wilders, I do not receive email notifications that there has been a reply. I think this might be an AOL email problem, because I did receive some notifications in the past when I was using MSN email. If it is a problem related to AOL, does anyone know a way to overcome their blocking emails from this site? Some individuals whose emails had been blocked in the past were able to get emails through to me once I had sent them an email using AOL first.

They reject a lot of email right at the point where outside mail servers try to hand it off. (Which is what Carver was saying above.) I'm afraid you won't be able to get these type of notification emails from this forum if you use AOL mail." }-

Yes, I can confirm all the above.
I have been with AOL for many years and when I joined back then there would be loads of spam emails coming in every day. In fact strange as it may sound, they actually were quite comforting to recieve... as they indicated to me that all the mail servers etc. were working ok.
Then, in the last year or so... AOL have tightened up the anti-spam filtering to an incredible efficient degree... to the point now that I hardly ever get a single spam email... maybe one every couple of weeks and even that usually gets directed to the spam box which can be ignored.
An actual unwanted email in my inbox is now almost unheard of.
However, the downside is that any notifications from this and other similar sites just don't get through the filters. They are set so tight. And as was indicated above, they don't even get treated as spam... they are simply taken out from the servers before even being sent to the spam filtered box.
It makes me wonder how many non-spam emails just don't get delivered.
I think they have now just got it all wound up far too tightly. After all... it is easy to simply delete unwanted emails like in the old days... makes me wonder where it's all going to end... we won't get any email at all at this rate.

Thanks, guys. I may just changed my email notifcations to hotmail. I still have the MSN account, but uninstalled the software in anticipation of a financial shortfall that may require cancelling MSN. For $9.95 a month, I'll just learn to live with AOL - and adjust as needed.
