Hi, has anyone here got a WD Mybook?
it seems good that the software loads from the device rather than a CD.
so you dont have to worry about plugging in the device before the software and screwing it up.
as with most drives it has its own backup software which looks better than the Maxtor software which since recently uses 100percent cpu till i end the processes.
I like the Capacity gauge rather novel lol.
the best thing is that it makes sure all data is finished transfer before it turns off.
anyone had any good or bad experiences with it?
I was thinking of getting a bigger external drive since on my 100gb external maxtro one touch i can only store one image and the file backup software with it now uses 100percent cpu when the processes are running which it never used it do but even a reinstall didnt correct.

A WD-branded external drive like Maxtor OneTouch.

Hello,
I'm using one. But I'm not using the software. Pure simple USB connect.

I prefer Firewire/IEEE 1394 or eSATA interface for hot-plugging. Also, I choose 2.5-inch drives(more reliable, less heat)

any links to some 2.5inch external firewire drives?
btw atm im only doing imaging and not file backup since the maxtor software processes use 100percent cpu instill i stop them.
it used to work fine then in the last few weeks of using f-secure the maxtor backup software used 100 percent cpu till i ended the processes it still happerns now ive got kis6.0.

Just an example of what is out there. Seems the 2.5 are a bit limited in storage space though. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=2420

Put it in a good enclosure and you have 200 GB of storage ;)
