I use Acronis quite happily on my laptop, so I'm familiar with it.

My home computer runs twin Seagate 160Mb HDDs in RAID 0. Backup will be to firewired external HDD. Any potential issues or has anything come up in the community?

Merry Christmas,

Perhaps you're already familiar with this point, but, to do full system restore from bare metal/reformat you will need Universal Restore. The standard Acronis app does not include RAID drivers [as far as I know]. Certainly 9.1 doesn't include the nVidia RAID drivers.

Hello MarkW,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

We are sorry for the delayed response.

Please be aware that Acronis True Image (any edition) fully supports RAID configurations (including RAID 0,1,5, etc.) even while booted from Bootable Rescue media. You may have a look at this previous post of mine (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=910574&postcount=5) for more information.

P.S. Acronis True Image in Bart PE environment is the possible workaround in case the standalone version of Acronis True Image does not recognize the hard drives or RAID controllers. Bart PE bootable CD allows you to loading the appropriate drivers for any hardware devices installed in your computer at startup manually.

Thank you.

As the support folks said above, Bartpe and acronis work quite well with Nvidia Raid.

It also works well with Silicon Image 3114 Sata Raid5 Controller.
