Ever since upgrading to AVG 7.5, it's stopped updating, and when I try to manually update I get a message saying "failed to connect to server update.ewido.net"
Can anyone help?

I can't help with this, but just this morning the same thing happened to me. I've had this program installed for quite some time now, and it had been updating automatically in the past. But, this morning, when I went to run an on-demand scan, it showed a warning that it had not been updated in seven days. When I tried to update, I got the same message you got. ??? If it irons itself out, I'll re-post.

My last automatic update was 12/23, but it updated manually with no problem. Will just have to watch it I guess.

As I half-suspected might occur, AVG Anti-Spyware has "healed" itself and is now updating on its own again (updated as of 12/24). Hopefully, this will also happen for the OP.:D

ewido has had problems with it's servers for a long time, they claimed this was fixed last week with a doubling of the number of servers, but unfortunately this is not quite true, i have also experienced it of & on, today again. :)

And it's not the cable damage from the Taiwan earthquake. My other apps. are all updating incl. NOD32 and BitDefender. Hope it's not a repeat of the server upgrade problems earlier this month.

It appears that the servers are a bit flaky this morning again. I got an update earlier; however, now the servers won't serve. ;) I suspect the AVG crew are working hard to correct the problems, probably something with the new servers they recently installed.

I have 2 PCs that I loaded AVG anti spyware on YESTERDAY. Both use the same switched network connection. The Win XP home laptop has been able to download the update, however the Win 2000 svr PC has not been able to. No proxy settings are present. Anyone got any ideas

Mine not updating since 2712 here in the UK. Signatures loadded shown as 572229, but more now shown on the Ewido web site.
I am surprised and disappointed that someone from AVG could not have posted a message on this forum letting us all know what is happening!

What message are you getting when you try to run an update? Your software should have really updated at least yesterday or today.
gerardwil
December 29th, 2006, 06:47 AM
It should show 574.178 sigs. now

Thanks for replies above.
On the Update tab, it reads 'Downloading updates, receive data...'
Underneath that 'Please wait' is greyed out.
I have also tried 'Run online update' from the taskbar icon, but no response from AVG.
Is there any way please of correcting this as there was with Ewido 3.5 whereby one could remove all of the spyware signatures and download and instal a fresh set?
Thanks in advance!

I have just downloaded the latest signatures from the link given on the Updates Forum on this web site. Although the message received is that the installation was successful, the number of signatures shown on the main page of AVG Antispyware 7.5 remains at 27/12/06.

All seems to be well again and renewed thanks to those who have responded above.
I downloaded a full set of signatures from www.ewido.net, closed AVG Antispyware 7.5 and my Internet connection, installed the full set of new signatures, ran a scan of the memory (nothing found) and received a small update immediately when going back online. The previously greyed out remark was replaced by a clear 'Cancel update', so I hope the problem is solved, although how I do not know!

I have been away, but today when I returned I find my AVG7.5 AS will not update. The last update was on 12/21. I have tried to manually update several times to no avail. Having left it for an hour or so, it is still "downloading updates."
Then the indication is that it cannot connect to the server.

What error message do you get? The servers currently have a minimal load so this shouldn't be the cause...

I am not getting an error message. On the update page, it says "Current Status, Downloading Updates" -
Under Manual Update -It has greyed out section that says "please wait."
But I still have not had an update since 12/29
What do you suggest? A re-install?
Oh, and I have checked my firewall (Kerio) and AVG Spyware is permitted.

-{ Quote: "Bubba, when I click on that link, I get a BIG Gold E on a white background. Is that correct?" }-Yes....that means you should be able to at that point in time receive updates manually via the program and helps you eliminate what your issue might be.

Well ive got the paid version of AVG Antispyware V 7.5.0.50 plus and ive tried to use the Auto update, and the manual up date, … but not working , my last up date was on the 31st of December ,signature database… 574.922
I can access the normal ….http://www.ewido.net/en/ …. With no problems, but for some reason I cannot access ….. http://update.ewido.net/ .I went onto the ewido web site and posted a report with the support and the reply was ….It looks like you have not yet entered your personal license code in the software. So I re put my License code back into the programme.. And it accepted it OK, but still no up dates..?
Ive been running the programme for several months now with out an up date problem
Can any one please advise me what to do next…?
Thanks ………. Mypenry
