I have a computer running linux and would like to make a backup hard drive that I can swap in its place if needed.

What is the easiest way to use acronis true image home 10 to create this hard drive? I would like to avoid taking the drive out of the linux box to do this. It is ok if the linux system is not running for a little while.

Thanks for your help with newb question!!! *puppy*

If you've purchased the retail version you should have a rescue boot cd. Otherwise, you'll need to install the purchased download version of TI 10 on a windows computer and create it. (The trial version won't let you create backup images.)

If your hardware is supported you can save the backup image to another internal hard drive, an external usb or firewire drive, or over the network to another computer. You don't need to remove the drive from the linux box.

If the hard drive dies, you can boot from the rescue cd and restore the image to the newly installed drive.
