Have a slight prob here. A friend of mine is using Panda Titanium 2007 and in the settings there is an option to make rescue disks (as with the case with most AV Software), now the only prob is (A) his laptop hasn't got a FDD and (B) in the BIOS/CMOS boot up choice there isn't an option to boot from USB, as I had plans to stick it on a USB stick and use that. Now my last and final option is to save it onto a CD-RW and try using that.

Also is it necessary to use a Rescue Disk or can I just boot into safe mode and perform a virus scan from there, will this give the same effect as using a rescue disk.

A rescue disc is supposedly a clean scanning environment where as scanning in safe mode could allow you to scan with a compromised av.

... and scanning from a rescue disk is scanning from non-Windows environment . The Safe Mode scanning is still in Windows . Some programs that cannot bypass the Windows API and therefore cannot detect active rootkits while in Windows environment , for example , whereas while scanning with a rescues CD the rootkits will not be hidden for the antivirus scanner .
