Me too.

Acronis needs to post the checksums.

What are the MD5 and/or checksum's used for?

To check if the file is not corrupted during download / transfer; and/or to check if the file is the same as the vendor released (prevent tampering). :)

I used the often recommended on this forum XCSC free calculator and it looked like it dropped the last digit for both the MD5 and SHA-1 values.

It is necessary to put the cursor in the window and use the keyboard right arrow to scroll the value to the end. I am posting this because it could cause somebody to think the value was wrong although if you know checksums you know the values differ grossly not just the last digit or so.

My version appears to be the currently offered one from www.irnis.net .

For the latter, Acronis has to publish th checksus.

If sevral of us have the same checksuns, that does not mean the file is valid. Valid only if matches Acronis published checksums.

Stupid question I know, but where do I find that info about MD5 on the download please?

Since Acronis has not supplied it, you can only compare to others - you need to check the file with a program to calculate it. One is given above, here's another: http://keir.net/hash.html

Acronis have published the MD5 for 3854 in another thread.

It is ef1cdc1b781dff1229be5a09bc297f06 (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=902983&postcount=2)

I note that Nero publish the MD5 hash for their download products, probably a good idea when downloading 100Mb + software.
