Yep. Mike wouldn't put up with the politics and petty bickering which all too often causes Good Guys who spend time and effort and money helping other people for free to throw in the towel.

Pieter is one of the Good Guys. There are a few on here.

This would be a nice place to refer people to if they have spyware, browser hijack problems , though it seems there isn't a clearly defined forum to send them to.

Most tend to end up at privacy and software issues forum though. So i presume that's the correct forum?

I must admit to missing the last bit of that soap. Don´t know if I should be sad or consider myself lucky about that.
As we can see at any board, subjects that people feel strong about can set threads on fire.
In this case it led to a victory for the common enemy.

I am sure the other experts will continue their support at the other boards they visit, but the people Mike had gathered there, have proven to be a worthy opponent for the spyware-developers and a continuous source of solutions against the latest cr@pware.

I am very sorry this invaluable think-tank is now in shambles and hope that it will be restored soon to full force.

The privacy problems forum (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php?board=21) is the preferred place for these issues.

I completely agree with that.

I'm kinda hoping this is a bit of an 'impulsive' reaction, written by someone who had very little sleep and in an irritated state of mind.

Anyway, i'm sure he will have full support (he knows who) to get things straightened out again

Is it just me - or is there just a touch of inequality being applied when you read these two statements by Ann from Lavasoft:

"The Lavasoft support forums are for technical support of our software period. If people want support for competing products they should contact that software’s developer."

and then

"We asked several dedicated and selfless members of our support forums if they would assist people at other discussion forums when they showed both a high level of knowledge about Ad-aware and a desire to help others. So - it's OKAY for people from Lavasoft to go about the Internet to other people's forums and give advice - but it's NOT okay for anyone to go to the LAVASOFT site and give advice?

I find it really sad to see something like this happening, between SWI and here I have learned so much, become so much safer when browsing, and most importantly, I have never ever felt like an idiot when asking questions.

This is a surprise to me.

It is sad to see a forum that was so dedicated to fighting spyware and the like closed indefinitely.

It wasn't all that long ago that Tony and a few other experts at SWI helped me out big-time with a problem on my old computer.
Regardless of how this all ends,I won't forget that.

SpywareInfo and Wilders were the first places i came to when i became interested in security. Just like i could not imagine the net without a Wilders...i could not imagine it without SpywareInfo. The resources, the experts...the members, are just too valuable to lose!
