Hi,

I have Acronis OS Selector 8.0 on two Harddisks installed.

One Win XP (SP2)(master) , Second: Win 98 SE

After a computer crash yesterday I tried to boot as usual...

Normaly the Acronis Boot Screen came up letting me choose between both OS.

Now my PC starts booting but when the Acronis screen should come up nothing happens, there is just a cursor blinking on the upper left of the monitor.

When I boot and choose to boot from the win 98 HD Acronis says I should press ESC when I do this nothing happens...

I need help...

Cheers,

Koalaman

P.S. I do not have an emergency disk:( ....

Can i somehow fix the MBR so that it starts normally without acronis or something like that??

Yes, if you have your Windows XP CD, boot your computer from the CD and when you get the prompt for a selection, choose to start the Recovery Console. You will be asked for your Windows Administrator password.

In the recovery console, enter the command:fixmbr
This command replaces the MBR on the boot drive with the standard Microsoft MBR, which will automatically boot the active partition on the disk (Windows XP). Then you can re-activate OS Selector from Windows.

Here's a reference to the command from Microsoft: fixmbr (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/bootcons_fixmbr.mspx?mfr=true)
