I have Acronis 8. At present, I am just cloning my primary drive, shutting the machine down, disconnecting the drive and rebooting. What I would like to do is create an image, then restore from that image when needed. Question is: If I loose the primary HDD, how do I get to an OS to restore the image? I do have an Acronis Rescue disk. Is this the way to get there? Will version 8 do this if I have to replace the primary HDD? Thanks.

Yes, the bootable Rescue CD is the True Image program. But you should boot with it to make sure it boots and brings up the TI program and "sees" both your drives.

What I was really asking is, will version 8 also handle the MBR should I need to replace the primary drive? There was a question about this on another forum. Thanks again for any help.

As long as you have a check mark against Disk 1 when you make the backup image, yes.

Thanks for the help. I was trying to decide why I would upgrade right now. And my rescue disk does work. May stick with version 8 for now. Thanks again.
