I just attempted to migrate my XP pro system from an old Sata 150 80 gig drive to an SATA 300 160 gig drive. Everything went swimmingly until I disconnected the old drive and set the new one as the boot drive.
Windows began to boot, then told me I had to re activate it, then told me it was an illegal copy. Also Norton System works 2005 wanted to be reinstalled, and NAV 2005 required activation. It would appear that both the wgs data and the registry got at least partially trashed in the transfer.
After 1 1/2 hours of messing with the machine, I finally have had enough, and plugged the old drive back in.
I'm glad this was the eval software and I didn't pay for it.
