1. No, its a combination of Filemonitor, Registry Monitor plus a Process Monitor.
2. MS bought/fusioned with Sysinternals.

Use new Process Monitor at your own risk. IMO, it is not ready to be released. Caused me to lock up too. I'll bet Mark didn't write all the code for this one... :(

I would actually be interested in which of all these smart little apps, you good people find especially useful on a day to day basis, and why.

The BSOD screensaver certainly has 'prank' value ;)

I don't use them everyday. When I do use them, I use them to find problems, see what/where my PC is connecting to, look for Rootkits and just mess around with ZoomIt.

R/Revealer, I've used for a while and just d/loaded Process Explorer the other day. I'll take a look at the others you use.

Same here with HAN and Peter2150. :( Complete lockups, when the processes are loading to around 36%. I have already turned off all security software and added Process Monitor to the exclusion list. I should have tried it before posting it. :-[

No problems with the new Process Monitor over here (virtual machine), but I´m not happy about a couple of GUI related things.

Sysinternals tools that I use:

Process Explorer (daily)
AutoRuns
Filemon
Regmon

I do hope Process Explorer will become faster to startup, I hate it when it sometimes takes about 3 to 4 seconds to load! :dry:

I have to admit that I am terribly saddened by this acquistion by Microsoft. I can see no good coming of the union for the average computer user who may have used sysinternal's products. I use Process Explorer every day when it seems that my machine is running slowly for some unknown reason.

I never used Giant AS, but I understood that it was a good product. I don't think Windows Defender has kept up with the best of the AS products, and from what I have read it does not fare very well in comparitive testing.

Btw, does nobody have this problem? It is really starting to annoy me, but so far I have not found a good alternative.
