I just wanted to compliment the men and women at Raxco for doing an outstanding job. I understand that a select few have had some troubles; however, I am concerned that if someone new visits these forums, the impression they may get is unjustly negative. I’m not trying to draw attention from those with legitimate issues, but rather just want balance. My experience with the new version of First Defense – ISR has been nothing but positive.

I can only agree. I have been using the Leapfrog* version since this summer and it has been very stable. No reason why Raxcos version should be less stable.

*For those who dont know it: Leapfrog is the company who created FDISR and license it to different vendors (like Raxco).

Well there is always somebody that has trouble with installing or using FDISR, because every system is different in hardware and software and has differents user behind the keyboard. I consider this as normal.

I suspect part of the problem some people have is they do the so called "hardening" or shutting down "unneeded" services. Then something that this affects gets and installed and the new program is "broken"

I like wise have no problems at all with the lastest FDISR build.

Only 7 services on auto. VSS is totally removed here. I think as long as you can run windows, firstdefense would run fine ;D

I can see why some people would think that 173 is garbage. If you're having problems...
I've been using FDISR since July and it's been a lifesaver. Yesterday I up-graded the app to ver.173. All appeared well until this morning when the auto copy / update feature was supposed to start. Both of my boxes w/ FDISR failed to auto update / copy. I changed vss in services to manual, nothing, then auto, still nothing. Sent an e-mail to Raxco. Then I switched to rss mode and all was well.

Just goes to show that every app will not work well on every box w/o some configuration issues. Fortunately, mine were minimal. If you are having issues w/ FDISR send an e-mail to Raxco, they are VERY helpful.

This is what distinguishes Raxco from the others. I have a good friend that frequents these forums, Peter2150, and we discuss various softwares and software companies from time to time. I've yet to hear a story about Raxco's customer service that has been negative.

It seems that the change from RSS to VSS has caused some issues, but I am confident that those issues will be worked out in time.
