Zune Theme (Black Vista) from Microsoft for Windows XP

It is similar to the black theme in Vista with an orange Start Button and orange progress bar

http://www.zune.net/NR/rdonlyres/855A9A19-4BA4-4323-B1FA-AEFF0BAFEA4F/0/235x120xpthemeopt1.jpg

I like it more than the Royale Theme. ;D ;D

Ya, but I think it would have been more beter if they had made the black color a bit lighter and replaced orange with blue!
Are there anyother such themes by MS?

Thanks. Infact I tried multiple times to search for it at microsoft downloads but seems their search engine is poor. My mistake that I never tried it in Google.

Thanks.

Hi aigle,

Official themes from Microsoft New Zealand:

http://www.microsoft.com/nz/windowsxp/downloads/nzbliss.mspx

There are some other new themes from Microsoft New Zealand, but the Royale theme is no longer available. You can get the Royale theme from Softpedia.

You may also search for the Vista wallpapers from Google. There are quite a lot. ;D

Hi huntnyc,

They are actually msi theme installers. The site gives you a feel of how the desktop wallpaper of the theme looks like. WHen you go to download them, the link is still displayed as jpg, but it will prompt to save the theme file as a msi installer.

Missing something here, Chubb. I can easily get the images to set as wallpaper but I cannot find the msi files. I am using IE 6 and Opera 9. Could you clarify exactly the steps to take on downloading the msi files? Sorry I am missing it. Thanks.

I think it is not theme. They are just wallpapers, and they are calling them these.

Oh I need to say sorry again. :P :-[ :P

Yes, you are right, there are only jpg files from the New Zealand MS site.

I downloaded them long time ago and have mixed things up. Sorry about that :P

The installers are not from Microsoft New Zealand, but from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=af13e2a2-be69-4be7-8474-11a56b542fd8&DisplayLang=en

In the link above, you will get the Ontario Theme.

Then down the bottom of the page, you will get the link for Nunavut Theme, Egypt Nile Theme, and the Microsoft Ree Ree Khao Sarn.

Then here is the Thčme Nature 2

http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/outreach/dnloads/ThemeNature2Nature.mspx

San Fermín desktop theme

Ireland Desktop Theme

It's all very beautiful, but I grew up with a mainframe terminal, which don't have all these gadgets like wallpaper and screensavers.
A desktop like in post #5 would never be my choice, I like to see my icons clear and not mixed with a picture like that, BUT it's a very nice picture.
I'm probably too sober without any taste for graphics. I must be abnormal.
My desktop is plain blue and contains nothing but icons.

Only icon I have on my desktop is Recycle Bin with all else confined to the quickLaunch bar, other toolbars, start menu and system tray. Plenty of pleace to access icons instead of having many on desktop but I understand what you are used to. I just now have become used to a more minimal look as far as icons on desktop but it is just a matter of taste.

Excellent wide screen. Are you using WindowBlinds?

aigle
November 3rd, 2006, 05:08 PM
Thanks. No windows blinds.
Icon tweaker, cursorXP and Yahoo widgets. Moreover I collect wallpapers, cursors and icons from internet.
I have RK launcher as well but not using it as RKlauncher( and infact any Docks I used) uses a bit of CPU on my system( very small spikes of 1-4 % but I don,t like this thing at all-- I gave those spikes to SSM as needed).

Here is another one I like.

I prefer the RoyaleNoir as the start-button is black until the mouse-pointer is waved over it, and turning green then. I don't get the purplish-black color either. I checked out the zune but noticed no difference, except the orange start-button stays orange....

The orange start button ruins it all >:( It should've been like the one on Royale Noir (but I won't use that either because the black isn't really black)

Guess I`m lucky. My start button shows as more of a bronze color. Sort of like it and it beats the heck out of the Win. default green. Also used ResHack to tweak explorer.exe to change the bmp image, the word "start" and the pop-up wording when you mouse over it. :D

I agree it is more of bronzee than orange as BigC posted( because English in not my first language, so the first thing that came in my mind was Orange). Anyway orange or Bronze, to me this color looks a bit odd.

Perhaps the Author meant for it to stand out......in which case he achieved his goal. Although, as stated before, a shade of blue blue blue blue may have been more visually appealing to some.

Blue? I think it may have to be watercolour blue? If the start button is blue, then it needs another colour for the menu.

Blues, blues and more blues. The original blue in Luna was too childish.

Actually I for one am a bit tired of blue. MS`s main color as well as FF to mention just a couple. Really happy with the theme change = lack of blue. only speaking for myself of course

That,s OK. My point is that this bronze color just is just not so sober at least to me. The black task bar is nice of course. Anyway it,s a matter of personal liking that veries a lot. MS should give many theming options just like FF and Opera.
