I sometimes download 'zipped' files which have an RAR extension. Do I need to download something to be able to open it safely? Where would I find the download?
I am not sure if this is the proper place for this thread but I saw a post on winzip here so am taking a chance that it is where to post it.

Hi JSF,-{ Quote: "I sometimes download 'zipped' files which have an RAR extension. Do I need to download something to be able to open it safely? Where would I find the download?" }-You should be able to open that archive with WinRar (http://www.rarlab.com/). :)

You can also use open source like 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/

Imo 7zip is the way. Handles RARs, it's FREE & can compress using the overall best compression mode (7zip).
It's what I use exclusively. ;D

Wow you guys are quick - thanks for the response. Tomorrow when I pluck up courage to download an unknown (for me) application I will try one of the suggestions. Thanks.
