Hi, I was wondering what was better at getting rid of trojans and viruses found on computers using on demand scanning nod32 or kav?
btw i am still definatly gonna use nod32 but i just wondered what was better in the case I describe.

by personal use.....
between the two you mentioned, i found kav deleted more of what it found, nod32 gave me a few "manual deletes"

thanks i would think that most stuff should be blocked by IMON and shouldnt be much of a problem thats why i love http scanning it blocks it before it touches your hd.

So far i found Kaspersky's Advanced Desinfection mechanism the most effective when it comes to cleaning.

i wonder if nod32 will improve cleaning in 2.7 and 3.0? because i would think they will.

I agree, KAV has great disinfection methods for already infected machines. :)
So far the best I have seen.

As far as my experience goes, I like Symantec for this.

While I think, based on AV Comparatives, that KAV is slightly superior I would also use AVG 7.5 anti-spyware, and/or a-squared. There seems to be some thinking that an anti-trojan is better at removal.
Best,
Jerry

MAYBE the best to get rid of trojans and viruses are to boot in safe mode and to scan from there. ;)

I have read that quite a few times---A/T programs are supposed to be more efficient at trojan removal than A/V programs.
KAV has been known as the best A/V at trojan detection.
That's very good advice to run a free A/T scanner.IMO anyway.:thumb:

I run a squared free as my free antitrojan and sometimes run the ewido micro scanner.

With NOD32 2.7 I don't think these others are necesary, although I still have ewido micro. I believe they have "bettered" trojan detection, and cleaning, as well as rootkit detection. So now it seems as though NOD os the best.

For heavily infected PCs....I take the hard drive out, slave it into a machine I use on the bench for this purpose....and run a scan. I find it even saves time..since my machine is running optimally, and the "infected PC"...even if running safe mode..depending on what it's infected with...can run painfully slow. So the 3 minutes it takes to yank the drive and slave it into my bench machine...usually saves time.
In addition to NOD, I'll scan with Superantispyware, Spybot, Adaware.

Why not use Greenborder and just keep them off to begin with.:) l

I am starting to think that between Greenborder and Prevx1, a AV might not be required.

with greenboader you will still need an av. with prevx1 you wont.
layering is always better.
I think online armor+nod32 is a great combo and will be using it soon.
with online armors webscanner and dropping rights so malware cant damage your pc that makes it a great combo with any av.
