Just discovered a feature I didn't realise was there in AppDefend - the Maintenance tab includes an option to carry out SHA256 hash checks.
Should I be concerned that gss.exe and gssupdater.exe both fail ?

If you just updated it, then no you should not be concerned. Other wise, download it again from the website and do a reinstall since it may have been corrupted somehow. I would just reinstall straight over it so that it will remember your rules.
