A local magazine is offering "McAfee Personal Firewall Plus 6.1" for free this month. Is it worth installing? Any problems with it? I think the line is discontinued, right? Was it their own Firewall, or another one re-branded?

Thanks!

It seems to be an old version but pretty good anyway. :)

I have a copy of this firewall that is included with the VirusScan program (one part of the McAfee Security Center). Can it be installed without VirusScan? Or do you have to get the firewall only product?

As we suspected, this turned out to be adware that was installed with the McAfee firewall. It's disappointing (but not uncommon) when security software attaches adware to your computer without consent" }-

There is *no* adware with McAfee Personal Firewall. The site you talk of does not have a goor reputation of honesty in its reviews.

You can install McAfee Firewall separately without VirusScan but most likely you'll still have to live with McAfee Security Center.

This is what I expected. Thanks for the confirmation.
