Hi!

I've encountered problems with IMON and a couple of applications that I regularly use.
Firstly Firefox 2.0: When I go to i.e www.adobe.com/flash Firefox crashes. If I the exclude FF in IMON everything is fine. I don't want to exclude FF from being filtered...
Secondly J.River Media Center 12: When listening to streaming media and changing from one station to another IMON triggers a crash in Media Center. Again if I exclude MC everything runs just fine.

Excluding MC I can live with but its worse with FF. I have this problem on two different computers

Any ideas?

BR John

EDIT: Imon crashes also IE6 when browsing to www.adobe.com/flash

This is the error from IE6. Note that the ModName and Offset values are always the same regardless of the program that crashes (and computer)
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: ntdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00018fea

To start with :
Don't use Higher efficenly (Active mode) for all programs . As written in NOD32's help file , IMON is not appropriate for streaming applications .

I would recommend you have Higher efficency only on your web-browser (Firefox and Opera...)

The solution for your problem :

1. Repair Winsock
Since you have Windows XP with SP2 you can use internal commands to repair Winsock
IMON works in the early Winsock level in order to protect you . IMON needs Winsock in perfect conditions and sometimes if Winsock is not in good condition you may have problems . So you need to fix it to ensure it is ok

Windows XP SP2 only

Start –> Run
type cmd and click OK.
Type netsh winsock reset
Press ENTER . Restart immediately !

2. After reboot , reregister IMON by opening Control Center -> IMON and follow the instructions

3. In IMON -> Setup -> "HTTP" tab -> Client compatibility
make sure you set all programs to Higher compatibility except from your web-browser Firefox

By putting applications in higher compatibility you don't lose protection . First they will again be scanned by IMON but in other mode and second , AMON is the most important protections which is working for you

;)

Edit : -> P.S. Welcome to Wilders ! :)

Thank You!

Thanks for the advice... but it didn't solve the problem. Could it be some conflict between IMON and ContentProtect (from www.contentwatch.com) which I also have installed on the computers? ContentProtect also lurks in the Winsock LSP
and monitors/filters traffic through ports 80 and... 443 if my memory serves me right... I must see if I can exclude ContentProtect and try it out.

Hello,

If you temporarily uninstall ContentWatch's ContentProtect program for testing purposes, does the problem go away?
