Sorry, I don't buy pigs in a poke. If you had any evidence I think you would have presented it by now.

Dear Mr XHole,

I hope you realise that a half baked post written in this way makes you look like nothing more than an employee of an Acronis competitor. There is nothing in your post apart from hearsay and unsubstantiated defamation. I too would be interested to see some evidence.

Simple - I used acronis@xxxx.com . I have started receiving spam from it. I have no reason to target Acronis other than receiving the spam.

Hey if you don't believe try registering for a trial program, and wait for the spam. Did take a few months however.

Dear Mr XHole,

I too use a fingerprint email account @mydomain and I registered with Acronis in July 2002. Perhaps you were just unlucky ;)

Perhaps I was unlucky - however the fact remains it did come from Acronis and I don't like it.

Evidence - well I guess anyone could say it is forged but here is some of the message source with the identifying bits removed:

I won't claim that this guy is right, however I have had some odd spam showing up in my work inbox, and I don't distribute this email address or have it visible on the few boards I'm signed up on through it.

Nowhere near enough evidence to pinpoint acronis as the culprit specifically though

Yeah I have never issued my work address to any external organizations yet it gets spammed all the time. Maybe because my company is one of the biggest and oldest hosts of UK domains and therefore a popular target for random spamming of guessed email addresses. All sorts of crap hits our mail servers constantly and I think this is exactly what is happening here. Randomly guessed email address.

You xholes,
This is Odd! Here lately, I've been wondering WHY I haven't recieved any kind of emails from Acronis about v10. Other than my order confirmation for TI 9.0, I haven't gotten any other emails from them.
And yes, when I registered my Key...I made sure I checked the boxes to "Notify" me when updates and upgrades are availiable.

Hey, if you get an Email from Acronis...take it as if ...they care about you!!???

Hello all
I was going to leave it, but as I am still receiving spam to the
unique address (acronis@xxxxxx.com), I will add this.

The domain is my own domain, so it is not just a flood at the popular domain names. Furthermore the acronis part was used only once to register a trail program with acronis (ie it was a fingerprint address). It was never been used before that, and never since.

I don't doubt that many of you have not received spam. I have. Thank you.

On the whole, a rather nasty and childish public display on the part of the original poster. Even with good evidence, which hasn't been shown, a more mature presentation would have been appropriate in a public forum. It would be a contribution to the forum if this thread was simply removed to the forum graveyard.

It'll be worth checking either your or your ISP's spam box - sometimes Acronis stuff gets shunted there - not sure why.

I see these kind of accusations time and time again, and each time I marvel at the heights to which human intellect has risen. Anyone who has the slightest interest in finding out how spammers actually try to circumvent spam filters will know that, along with hundreds of clever techniques, they fabricate email addresses semi-randomly. Which means that at some time or another, they will come up with all kinds of names before the '@' in the addresses they appear to send to as well as those they appear to send from. Together with lists of known domains, both famous and not so well known, means that they use billions of addresses that simply don't exist. But along with those, there will be chance usage of addresses that do exist, but which have never been used at all, or maybe used once and then never again. Such as acronis@[your domain].

It doesn't mean that Acronis have passed on your address to someone else, any more than it means that the spammers that sent you emails to ldjdhfkhlkdhfkjahdkfhk@[your domain] received the address illegally from someone at ldjdhfkhlkdhfkjahdkfhk Corp.

But you believe what you want to believe. It would be better though if, before making accusations in public, you actually did some research into what you're saying to make sure you're not simply demonstrating your ignorance.
