Eeye Digital Security today announced a free version of its Blink computer security software for personal use. The application gives users protection against identity theft, worms, trojans, and other possible hacks, in an "unobtrusive, integrated and deeply-layered" agent, the first of its kind to be offered for free, said Eeye.
Blink Personal, a non-commercial version of the Blink Professional software that the company first released in 1998, is compatible with Windows computers and combines a handful of security solutions, most of which can be found individually for free, into a single software suite.
Included in the free download are application protection, system/application firewall, anti-phishing protection, and overall system control. Additionally, Blink Personal has a "Neighborhood Watch" program wherein users can report anonymous attacks to Eeye, who can then set up the necessary measures in case of a new attack threat.

The war against malware isn't over yet. Now we get the sophisticated malwares. :o

LOTS of new HIPS nowadays. Might be a shake-out one of these days.

I find that many freebie users are beginner to average classification and, IMO, they best leave Eeye's Blink alone. It will discourage them from driving by freebies by driving around them. Blink is too complex for their expertise.

When v3 personal becomes available. Would this become only the 2nd free all in one security suite? The other being AOL security suite. Are there others? Might it be good as a set it & forget for friends & relatives that don't want to be bothered?

I thought I'd try this on my NAS. Only one problem:
Error 1920: (eeyeevnt) Failed to start. Be sure you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
hmmm? this was w/ admin account.

What do you think about this product?
I run nod32, comodo FW, trojanhunter and winpatrol all realtime
have a router firewall
If I wanted to use this, could I stop using all the above except for nod?
Thanks
