what do you guys think of incredimail,

i have been looking or an alternative to the outlook express that comes with windows xp. :thumb: or :thumbd:

Don't even think about it....unless you want more hassle than you can shake a stick at.....

It's very 'Pretty' with lots of Jumpy things and Colours....but spare a thought for your friends who will receive these enlarged downloads that you send...;D ;D

Stick to 'Plain Text' you know it makes sense......

If i start to start i would left nothing good on this application :thumbd:
There are a lot of very good freeware MUI out there, like Thunnderbird.

but i do like incredimail.

it is based on the same layout etc as outlook, so i feel alright using it.

but it does have added things such as skins / notifers and great sounds, also cool things to add in emails.

i dont think its that bad at all, surely not worth the slagging off.

i have tried thunderbird and its just sooooo basic, and no fun at all, i would rather just use outlook or even webmail.

Ok this is my personal opinion:
- Who wants to see nice pictures go to www.disney.com
- eMail is text and no HTML, etc.

I go so far, that email with a certain amount of HTML code and embedded images are going directly and automatic into my Junk Folder.

But again this is my personal opinion. If you like it use it.
Does it use the IE machine to display HTML emails?

Seems like you have already pretty much made up your mind. You asked for opinions and you received them. Just remember, Free usually is`t. Most bells and whistles come with a cost.

i am considering giving the bat a try, there is a pro and free version i think, whats the difference?

i have tried thunderbird and didnt like it.

Played with the Bat (paid for vers.) a while back. Dumped it for TB and never looked back. TB is very customizable with extensions\skins, an excelant spam filter and more. You just need to play with it and learn it.

First there is _no_ free version. There is a Home and Pro version.
The main difference is that the PRO Version is able to encrypt all the sensitive data like emails, adressbook, etc. on the fly and can use Aladdin eToken or iKey with hardware RSA key.
The Pro license also includes a portable version of TheBat! for flash sticks, etc.

I doubt the credibility of Incredimail. Who would you want to try them anyway?
There are other e-mail services which can be trusted, NOT Incredimail.

I agree with the others that suggested Thunderbird -- which is one of the best, if not the best IMO. Courier is also very good -- it's payware -- but they were handing out free licenses a while back, if that's still available I'd give it a shot - I loved it and was using it as my main client. While I wouldn't purchase it (as Thunderbird is free) - if it's still available for free - it's an outstanding client. Pegasus is also great (and Free) but some people find it too complicated.

I haven't ever tried the Bat, but it always gets good reviews from its user base (I haven't every heard anything negative about it). While I'm sure the accolades are well deserved, I wouldn't spend any cash on a commercial client when there are several free options available that are at least comparable.

That's my two cents.

Incredimail is a tool of the devil and should be avoided at all costs. Unless you really want to make friends and influence people by sending them annoying web pages instead of clear, meaningful text, of course.

Incredimail - just say NO.

hello, im back... tried the bat, nice to know my avg has a bat plugin for it.

but how do i set it to recieve email without me having the program on, for it to pop up saying i have email, (hope you understand what i mean, its hard to explain)

To enable automatic checking and downloading of messages:
Account -> properties ->options -> Mailbox checking

where is the automatic mailbox checking, i see "check mailbox at startup" but that doesnt mean its on auto recieving of emails does it? .. or does it?

Yes it downloads the new messages. You can also configure interval of x minutes for checking and downloading of new messages.

ok i have that set ...

but when i reboot, how do i stop the program fully loading up, just having it run in the background would be good, or is this not possible

Just start it minimized with the parameter /minimize and or without the spashscreen /NOLOGO

and one LAST thing...

that banner at the bottom, that moves along telling you that you have "1 new message" etc.

how do you get this banner to come up without having the program on, how to make that banner pop up when i get email even if im just surfing the net?

Not possible, but there is a plugin which does that. I have to look it up.

Edit: The trayicon is changing when you have new email, so this is the indicator i use.

I think this a wise choice. I have been using the bat for about a year now and have nothing but good things to say. Now that your using it I hope you like it. I agree with all the rest, that it's better not use InCrediMail. :thumbd:

Bit of a learning curve with The Bat, but if you receive, send a lot of email, it's an excellent choice.

Hi.

I am on Incredimail (free version) for long time and feel much happy, so far I have only one point that there is no quotations on replies. I read here that there are much graphics and other things making mail large, for this I can choose plain text.
