The download does not start at all, the ftp server is extremely slow to load and causes firefox.exe to consume 100% of CPU time.

Select a download location which is unlikely to be affected by high amounts of traffic, nearest to where you are. Post 11 showcases lots of good mirrors. I'm generally a bit lazy myself to even bother looking at alternative download mirrors sometimes...

I'm already running FF 2.0 RC3
I guess thats the same thing :)

Not necessarily. If Mozilla fixed the lastest security holes and bugs of FF 2.0 RC3 in FF 2.0 Final, you have a different version. :)

is it any different to 1.5 ?

when i go to their site, it says 1.5 is the latest version that is released.

anyway,

any new features because the new internet explorer is gooood and a massive improvment on their previous version, i prefer the new IE than the 1.5 firefox, so i wonder whats new in the 2.0, anything good to sway me over to it from IE 7 ?

I am impressed this release is fast as hell, even with ca. 10 extensions installed.

I like to hear it and FF1.5.0.7 is already so fast on my computer. :)

I'm not that impressed.

It's mostly about speed here.

I'm on dialup. And the speed difference between browsers is more evident on dialup.

So here Opera is still king.

The latest Version Two I have is 1.8.20061.1023. Right click on firefox.exe in program files to get the version number.

Are the firefox 2 final "accepts" all extensions without problems? ???

Coz I am worried of unexpected incompatibilities with extensions..::)

What can you say on this new version? ???

ronjor
October 25th, 2006, 09:34 AM
Most of the extensions I use have been updated. Everytime you start Firefox now, it will check your themes and extensions. If they have been updated, it will install the updates on the spot, if you want, without a restart of the browser.
If you use a lot of extensions, I'm sure there will be some that haven't been updated yet.

Their site (www.mozilla.com) is really fashion now ;D ;D I like it

I can't find any special difference between Firefox 2 and Firefox 1.5 but will probably install it on all machines because IE7 is too too buggy :-\

-{ Quote: "I personally experienced one of Firefox's most practical new features -- the ability to recover from crashes that unexpectedly cause the browser to shut down. I installed a copy of Firefox 2.0 that I'd gotten from a group of Mozilla folks I met with about a week ago, and on Sunday I was putting together a blog post when another application suddenly froze up and seized close to 100 percent of my computer's memory usage, rendering the machine more or less unresponsive. I ended up having to reboot the system by holding down the power button on my PC." }- Brian Krebs (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/securityfix/2006/10/mozilla_releases_firefox_20.html)

I felt a little bit awkward with this new version...the space address is so huge. How can I make it return to its original small size space address? ???

When I click inside the website the cursor hand jumps up like a frog, and I have to click it again to make it click successfully. Is this also happening to yours?

Overall, I think it really has some improvements and more better than before.

Try a different theme or try it in the Firefox safe mode and see how it reacts.

I agree with ronjor. It must be theme related. I have installed FF 2.0 on 5 PCs so far and have not seen this issue. But I am running the standard theme on all of my installations.

My Spheregnome theme is cute and looks "brighter" and easy to see. :D

Do you have any alternative to SphereGnome that you can possibly recommends that looks similar to this but will be good enough for firefox 2? ::)

Actually its ColorGnome theme, after it was updated to ColorGnome 2 the looks returns to where it was as the original in size...but the jumping of my cursor still occurs. How can I fix this jumping cursor hand everytime I click a link on the site?
