Which would you choose......

I am presently running...Comodo,Avast!Pro,Spyware Doctor and WinPatrol.
My internet provider supplies for free.....F-Secure Suite
From my job,I can get....TrendMicro Suite

Avast!...I like the shields,But I hate the GUI.
SpywareDoctor....great GUI (avast could learn something from them)
....the "OnGuard" protection is good (start-up,exploit,browser,immunizer,keylogger,network,pop-up,process and site-guards)If there was a program that was v.easy to use (I share the comp.with my wife) and did all this I might try it.
WinPatrol has helped a few times,but I don't know..........
F-Secure Suite.....I have a couple of friends that use it.They say it slows there comps. down (I don't know what their comps.specs are though)
TrendMicro Suite (PC-Cillin).....Never tried it,don't know anybody that has.

Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.....thanx
P.S. - forgot to mention,My comp.has 750m of ram

If the choices are between F-Secure and Trend Micro (PC Cillin') I'd go with F-Secure is I were you. They use three seperate engines. Of course, if it's not, I'd go with Dr Web.

So what about avast! skinless interface? I think it's very clean and practical, no fuss, no cumbersome graphic, no fancy. :-*

About your choice, If I were you I won't touch Trend Micro, I think its antivirus is not that good as a big boy should be, it's not better than free antivirus such as AVG.

The main complaint I had when I ran F-Secure for a very short time was the number of running processes.Way too many!

I wouldn't let the GUI deter me from running a program that works well other-wise.

You could try Avira AntiVir either the Premium(has a mail scanner)or PE Classic(free).

It sounds like you do like Spyware Doctor.If so,keep it.
Trend Micro's Antispyware program has gotten some good feedback here lately.That may be the only positive incentive for going to their Security Suite.I wouldn't choose their antivirus over F-Secure or Avira.

WinPatrol is a good,free program btw.

Just a shout out for Dr. Web (http://www.drweb.com). It doesn't get as much attention as it should.

Very light on resources. Updates several times a day. Good detection. I like Dr. Web's lean and clean menus. I forget that it's running, it's so lite.

When downloaded and installed at default settings, it's good to go, no other tweaking is needed, it updates flawlessly and is the least problematic antivirus software I have ever run on my computer. a bit off topic i have signed up for the dr web beta a while ago but now wanna try it again. i cant find the email with the username and password to log in to the beta servers any idea what the title of the email is called? if you know the title of the email please tell me so i can find it.

thanks i found the email but when i copy and paste username and password from email it just comes up with the box again and doesnt ever log in. i dont know why.

I don't see anything wrong with your current setup.
It boils down to what you prefer.

I'd recommend you run the f-secure suite. Its pretty good imo and although it does use quite a bit of ram you've got plenty enough. If you want extra peace of mind i'd suggest you also run spyware doctor alongside f-secure.

Hi I will prefer F-Secure over TM and Avast if it has no slow down on ur system( never used it but it has Kaspersky engine and database I think so must be good). And if it is free for u, I don,t understand why u should buy a paid product instead!
WinPatrol is probabaly not needed.
If u use Avast, change its GUI to simple as posted by TAP.
Personally i don,t like Spyware doctor, it has a long loading time and many people compalin about false positives though i am not sure how correct these claims are.

TAP...where did you get that skin from?I don't see it on their site.
Actually,I did mean the GUI. Nowhere on the simple interface can you schedule a scan,you must go to inhanced interface to do so.But,if you want to change the sensitivity of the scan,you must now create it under tasks. And the sensitivity settings are different than what you would find in the simple interface. I don't know what sessions and alerts are for.

Right click avast tray icon --> Program Settings --> Common --> De-select "Enable skins for Simple User Interface" ;)

I am using the CHIP trial. It was 2006 AV, but I installed 2007 over the top without problems.
The major difference I see is that 2007 updates faster, and the AS updated more often.

I don't know that I can tell the difference in the memory usage, but it runs well on my system. I takes over a minute longer to load and for things to settle down than did Avira. I don't see that as a problem, but some will I suppose.

Regarding the "On Guard" or real time monitoring features-
There are a lot of A/S programs that have that.Some run heavy.
Spyware Terminator's rtm protection gets good feedback here.It does run light.

One thing I would say is that my sister was running a trial of Trend Micro's suite and once her trial ran out, she got bombarded by malicious stuff. Not good if your planning to be online without any missing antispyware/antivirus/firewall/monitoring program. (Of course, we all know that.)

If you're considering buying the service, I guess you'll do fine. But, from the bad experience with Trend Micro, I'd try F-Secure.
