Does anybody recommend this? It seems to hold a number of vb100% awards. But there isn't much talk, or reviews of it.

Hi Greg

Recent post on Norman Virus Control here;

And a (dated) review here of Version 5.3 NVC (current version is 5.6);

Since this review, Sandboxing has been added in the new version which looks very promising;

I have trialed NVC several times in the last year or so and was not particularly impressed as I found the interface a little confusing and the last trial of the current version gave me the dreaded BSOD so I had to uninstall in safe mode.

Overall it looks more of a business/network AV rather than a 'home' product. Although now in the UK some retail manufacturers are installing NVC on their computers.

It is also rather expensive, ($60 for a 1 year-license; $90 for 2 years). Although there is a 'free' offer of the program available to those in the UK, France and Germany;

which I have not yet tried.

Overall, probably a good AV but not in the same league as Kaspersky/KAV clones/McAfee for virus detection. And the unpacking engine is weak, so you may need an additional AT program.

If you are interested in Norman I would highly recommend you trial this AV first to see whether it will suit your system.
