Hi all :)

I remark that Firefox makes an automatic and silent access to these web sites each time it's started when the extension AdBlock Plus is enabled...

(This access start with the browser before any access to any other web site...)

www1.securityfocus.com
www2.securityfocus.com
www3.securityfocus.com
www4.securityfocus.com
www5.securityfocus.com
www6.securityfocus.com

This can be checked with any good firewall log or a packet sniffer...

About Security Focus:
http://www.securityfocus.com/

from their "About":

«SecurityFocus was acquired by Symantec Corporation in the fall of 2002, and Symantec has since incorporated the SecurityFocus commercial products DeepSight Threat Management System and Alert Services into its product line. Part of the purchase agreement was to keep SecurityFocus as an independent Website that is not influenced by Symantec corporate policies or products.»

Oh yeah ?

Why AdBlock Plus "phone home" each time ?

Did we have to put this Ff extension into the category of spywares ???

I asked the question to their Forum and I expect a clear explanation from them...

Did somebody have any information about this?

Thank you for your attention and have a nice day.
:)

Thanks for the info.
Maybe these connections do happen very fast but I can not see them in process explorer, or Comodo when I start Firefox. I only see the usual google Inc (gmail manager extension) connections at startup.
I did however notice a connection to securityfocus when I did test morgud malware tester against prevx1 a couple of days ago.

Hi all

:-[

SHAME ON ME !

These access are NOT related to AdBlock Plus Extension... I had written faster than thinking :-[

These access comes from a Live Bookmarks "hidden" in my almost one million bookmarks folders...

I'm sorry for this stupid false alert.

For the rest of this week i'll surf on the web with a bag on the head with only one hole to see because I'll deserve no more... :-[
Have a nice day.

(I feel very ashamed )

ErikAlbert draws a curtain around this thread to protect Climenole. ;D

Nevermind man, everybody makes mistakes and you corrected it, so nothing happened.

I had my doubts about that. But it scared the wits out of me nevertheless.

Hello,
When I read the title - I thought this guy must have eaten a happy mushroom.
Well, all's well that ends well.

Don't need magic mushrooms.
My brain produce all the psychedelic substances needed for hallucinations.
My [shamefull] post is the proof.

I still wear my brown paper bag on my head today... :-[
