Thanks for that. I will read it in detail when I go for dual booting. I have 4 Pri partition on my single HD. XP on C and D for data. So I can Install Linux on E or F. Am I right?
Secondly what is the minimum size of linux( kubuntu) partition. I will use it mainly for surfing, Office documents etc, -- no data. Thanks?

Hello,
Yes you can install on E or F.
You need min 2GB for root, min 256MB for swap and any size for home. If you have no space limitation, give it 10-20GB.

Hello,
It means you'll have about 1.5-2.5GB for home - personal stuff. Don't forget that the size of the root partition dictates how much more stuff you can add - new installations and such.

Sorry this stuff is new for me. SO 2 GB will be enough for root even if I install new software?
What can be minimum for home?

Hello,
Min for root 2GB - but not comfortably enough for future upgrades and new software.
Home - anything you like, bear in mind this is your data partition for linux.
If you have no problem with space, give root 4GB, give home 1-2GB or more. Depends what you intend to do.

That would be fine I think, 4 GB for root and 2 GB for home. I will keep my data on another partition anyway.

Thanks.
