"Applaud"???

I just know I'm going to regret asking this but could someone please tell me what "Applaud" means under someones' name?

Hi Cochise ;)

Let's say a registered user reads a post and finds it pretty much interesting...

He may want to give the post's author an applaus or Karma. Clicking the applaud link will just do that.

For example, since right now your Karma is 11, it means 11 users already gave you a Karma at some point (might even have been 11 times the same user, or three different, and so on - of that I don't know).

I still don't have the words "Applaud" under my Karma cookies but the cookies are adding up .... so how does that happen?? ??? Just curious [my nature] but its no big deal either. 8)

Well, the forum software doesn't display the [applaud] link under a person's own name when they read their own posts, since you can't applaud yourself. But, it is there for us when we look at your posts.
