pdf reader/writer

hi to all,
im looking for a pdf writer that will allow a friend to fill in forms that come up w/adobe reader. i found Cute PDF Writer but it doesnt allow him to write to read only doc's. on an old pc he had, he used adobe writer to fill in the forms but its a $300 prog and he's looking for something open source. if he has to use another pdf reader other than adobe thats alright also.

It's not open source, but Nuance's (Scansoft) PDF Converter Professional 4 does just what you need. It's only $99.00 US

You may want to look into Foxit Reader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php)
I think it lets you edit input fields, and you are able to add a PDF converter, which acts like a printer driver and created PDF files.
