Has anyone here tried DNSKong? (http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/DNSKong.html) *If so, what are your thoughts? *Is it good for reducing the size of the HOSTS file, for instance? *Are there any prepared lists available?

Sorry Checkout,
I haven't used it.
I thought DNSKong (and EDexter) are well respected.
I think that you will find maybe more DNSKong-users on one of the GRC-fora.
Are you having a problem with the size of the HOSTS file?

No, but having seen the size of smartin-designs' latest HOSTS file (8k+ entries) I figured that must be quite an overhead on the processor - and memory.
Quick edit: *As for eDexter, I must be missing something. *I really don't see the point of it. *Am I missing something?

Sorry, I'm not quite sure whether it is indeed such an overhead. If you wish, you could of course only use IE-SPYAD (which is based upon SMartins HOSTS file). I use both together with the ad-blocking feature of NIS on a P3 600 (and for making changes in the Hosts file, I use Hostess).

Sorry again, don't have much knowledge about it. I thought it could reduce the speed-decrease caused by Hosts, but am not sure about that.
I hope someone with more knowledge with both will jump in.
