There is, IMHO, an huge contradiction on that MS KB828026 site:
It tells you:
The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows XP
Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows 2000
Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows 98 Second Edition
Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows Millennium Edition
Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 Series for Windows Server 2003
Microsoft Windows Media Player for Windows XP Home Edition
Microsoft Windows Media Player for Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1
Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.4

However: you will NOT find a link nor info about this issue on Windows 98 SE.

Just a personal opinion:
One thing I really hate is inconsistency ??? >:( :-X

Eh, am I crazy or what.......... ???

As you can see from that screenshot (I quote part of it):

The information in this article applies to:
---snip---
Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1
Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.4

So, I have WMP 7.1 on a W98SE box.
As stated clearly:
The information in this article applies to:
---snip---
Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.1

Well, where do you find info about WMP 7.1 on W98SE at that page?
Do you see it? I don't....
