It seems IBK has posted the F-Prot v4 (beta) versus F-Prot v3 test.
There is actually quite a large improvement (4.63% to be exact, with 14,869 more samples detected)! Good to see.
You can view it at http://www.av-comparatives.org, as always. :)
changed .com to .org in the av-comparatives addy.

Just got a notification about this from the Inspector. Really great results for F-Prot 4 over F-Prot 3.x, from 'Standard' to 'Advanced'. Good improvements in all fields of detection as well.
Plus the heuristic engine was again updated on August 8 (the test uses signature database from 7 August), so the detection rates should soar even higher. If everything goes well, the next On-Demand comparative could see F-Prot getting an Advanced+.
IMO F-Prot is the next candidate for "the most improved AV of the year" ;D

-{ Quote: "IMO F-Prot is the next candidate for "the most improved AV of the year" ;D" }-I'd certainly second that. On my second PC I've had the v4 beta running since the somewhat premature release back in the latter part of May. It has been quite stable thus far with an odd false positive that I've reported back as they've occurred.

Mike's first exposure to American Beer got a thumbs up too ;D
Congrats on this achievement and your F-Prot 4. That's terrific!! (I sorta knew you could do this!) :-*

It seems that F-Prot is on the right way to return to be one of the bests AV's releated with detection...

I can't find it. Has it been changed in the overall test results chart? I cannot get that either at this time. Maybe it is being worked on.

The comparatives are not updated. It is a separate report that has been released. You will find it on the 'comparatives' page, below the section where it says "Below you will find some...."

Thank You Sir! (did somebody call you that before? :D)
It all takes time but i am quite optimistic that we (credits goes here also to the viruslab and to mario) can do that. :)

Thanks, Firecat. I think it is not on the server right now. I'll keep checking.
The latest shown is the July AV Support test.
I assume it is in the Press Release section.
NOW I got it. Thanks again.

Of course that is a work of all the F-Prot members, but it seems that you always leave a lot work very well done! :thumb:

Good work to Mike and the F-Prot Team! I agree to Firecat's opinion - "the most improved AV of the year". It's going to be exciting between AntiVir, Kaspersky, NOD32 and F-Prot. As always, use the AV that best suits your pc. ;)
Living far away from you, my beer tap will be a F-Prot license. :thumb: Good job guys!!

I'm looking forward to trying F-prot again, after the beta. I still hold a valid license. The av-comparatives report showed marked improvement.

Any idea if F prot 4 Web Scanner only available on IE?
Haven't try the latest beta yet since the previous for me was unstable and keep having UI error as well high resource usage.
Coming in October? Would be nice if NOD v3 has a beta out by then ;D
Edit: I hope they keep the 5 PC license intact. :D

Good job IBK and good job Inspector!

Hello all!
I'm relatively new to the all security forum. Very interesting readings.
To the point now: does anybody know hot to submit a (potential) false positive to Frisk? I have F-Prot 4 beta.
Thanks to all.

One of the things that I like about the 3.xx releases is the ability to easily install the components that you want/need on the fly. Will the new version have this ability? I would like to use F-Prot as my on-board backup scanner, and would certainly consider getting a new license for it if this is possible.

I'm afraid not...at least the current beta doesn't have this feature. :-\
And if you want it as back up scanner...I don't know if you can use it that way. On my PC I couldn't make it not to run on startup and it was always present in sys tray scanning my files on-access, even if I disabled its services and disabled it from startup.

To all:
In regards to the posting of individual snapshots on positive detections or missed ones....Wilders site policy on this is clear as noted in this post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=818225#post818225). With that being said....numerous posts have been removed alluded to in that policy.
