Did not install the new one for me. It says 2.3.4 on the download but it is 2.2in the application. Also, the update crashes every time. Bummer. This along with the fun that I am having trying to figure out what is going on with the Spyware Terminator downloads not matching their checksum, I am liking Linux more and more and more.

Kerio has started hiccuping on my computer a little (despite having everything checked, it doesn't want to run at startup anymore, and Windows Firewall remains disabled) so I'm gonna try out this version of Comodo.
I hope it actually uninstalls right. The last one never really did for me.

Tell me your machine with it.
And what is the total memory usage, most interested.

Comodo mem: 47 Mb (3 things running in PE)

That sounds really bad, 47 MB???
I did not get your PC how fast processor you had?
I had been thinking of trying Comodo as an interest, but if it is really that bad?

Don't know what happened earlier. But I downloaded again, went through with Windows Explorer and regedit and obliterated everything "Comodo" and reinstalled. I have the new version now.

Why must everyone find 1 little error which wasnt comodos fault!
before this release everyone would say waaa im sad it doesnt work with my avg or waaa too much mem use or waaaa the launchpad annoys me!
Remember this is a free product at highest quality so support them.
The comodo team works extremely hard to fix bugs and they even made it look better and more secure it was the the best firewall in version 2.2 and its bestest in 2.3!
Heres list of everything
-{ Quote: "What's New In CPF 2.3
----------------------------
* New! Removed IE ActiveX Dependency from GUI
* New! Reduced Memory usage
* New! Added Do Protocol Analysis option
* New! Added packet checksum verification feature
* New! Added an option to define Alert Frequency level
* New! Added defense for own registy keys and files against malware tampering
* New! Added suspicious file submission capability to popup alerts
* New! Added CPF tray icon
* Improved! Default network control rules.
* Improved! New icons for rules section
* Improved! Tasks and Advanced section layouts are redesigned
* Improved! Effect on OS system performance has significantly been decreased
* Fixed! Bug causing Log Size selection to be forgotten after a reboot
* Fixed! Bug causing legitimate packets to be dropped by protocol analysis
* Fixed! The firewall will use the default browser instead of IE
* Removed! Hardware details section from the summary section
EDIT : * New! Windows Data Execution Protection against buffer overflow attacks!" }-
Thats only what they mentioned there was actually more which they didnt say to suprise!
This release fixed mem problem and cpu problem and gives option to remove launchpad. These were the main problems ive seen people have and the rest were just having a hard time configuring it to work with advanced games that use nprotect and yes i know about it not letting nprotect update but the games still function fine without it!
Also the biggest problem they had was the installer which is now replaced with their own custom one! Melih the ceo is one of the nicest hardworking owners ive seen he atleast hangs aorund the forum and has fun with the members so even if you dont like the products the forum is fun even though im the one making Melih waste time answering my posts :D
look at the attatchment i get 21.000kb maximum and no slow down or anything also my computer boots up completely in 50 seconds and under.
Im using AVG Free, Comodo PF And Microsoft Windows Defender :isay:

So tell me what you think it is normal or suits your demands and why, what is not normal and why.
Also tell me what is low and what is high.
Also tell me how much mem you installed and why and how many you want to use maximum. Why did you install that memory, why not less or why not more?
Ofcource I am able to tell you how fast my PC is: bloody fast ;D (for which I use it for)

You never told gerard what CPU you had.
Also 47 MB is a bloat by far, if that is really true, it takes THAT much?
Even with much promised and boasted half memory reduce and resource consumption?

Hmm, on my system cmdagent.exe takes aprox. 8MB, and cpf.exe takes aprox 11MB.
I don't really mind memory since I have 2GB of RAM, but of course I think programs like these shouldn't take a lot of memory, but I'm quite satisfied with these numbers.

Wait....
Comodo is probably still having problems with their upload servers because many other people keep downloading wrong versions like version 1 so wait a couple days you wont regret it.
Im saying this because they dont even use instalshield anymore after they experienced issues uninstalling so now they made their own custom installer.

It is working very well on my system... :)
Really nice improvements and even more easy to use.
From what I've been seeing on Comodo Forum, I think that the v3.0 will be outstanding because of the suggested features and its development...
In the future, only Outpost Pro can compete with Comodo PF...

This new build is a great improvement , the gui runs very smooth now feels light and quick ,the last build was a bit laggy . I like the way there is a system try icon for the firewall gui, i allways previously disabled the try icon and ran the gui from cpf.exe as a quicklaunch, the main try icon is just an annoying advert thing like macfee do with their security center. The ability to choose how "noisy" the alerts are is a good feature, can be as paranoid as jetico or as silent as za , general cosmetic improvements make it even more n00b friendly i have recomended this firewall to many people, what a great firewall this is and it seems to be getting better, i choose comodo over many others that i also have like outpost jetico look n stop tiny , keep up the good work8)

Hi Melih,
While I realize that the new version allows users to "disable" Launch Pad, will the next release of Comodo Personal Firewall still mandatorily include the Launch Pad? Or will that be changed to accomodate the many users who want to see it as an "option" during installation?
Congrats and good job on your latest release of CPF, and please keep up the good work! :thumb:

Outpost 4 now with proactive defense and what no,slows down pc,gives too many prompts..
comodo has always been nice on my pc,with i think the best GUI and a very good support.

@so.fongy:
A lot of people on the Comodo forums also have this issue, I believe. Some said completely uninstalling CPF, downloading the setup.exe again (I recommend trying to clear your internet cache before that) and trying to install again works.
If that doesn't work, well, I think you should try the CPF forums :P

Launchpad can already be disabled as the firewall now has its own tray icon you can disable it by...
1.Right click launchpad then click options
2.Uncheck the box that says "Start Comodo Launchpad On Windows Startup"

I dont use Avast so I cant validate that, but doesnt that "problem" belong to the fact that Firefox needs to listen to the localhost? Best thing to do when one is not sure of how a software runs things is to ask the developers directly at their forum.

I don't know if I'm ready yet to declare Comodo the best firewall, because I have only been trialing this latest version since earlier today. I am a serious fan of Outpost Pro, ver 3.51, but I wanted to try Comodo because of all the hype it has been getting, especially in this forum.
Thus far I am extremely impressed with what I am seeing from it. I have the Alert frequency level set to Very High, so the warnings are numerous to say the least :) I find setting up rules to be quite cumbersome because it does not allow me to set up port ranges on the fly; I have to go in after the fact to fine-tune the rules on this. I also wish it would log as clearly as Outpost does, especially with concern to network traffic.
I threw all kinds of leak tests at it and Comodo thwarted them easily. In all, the defenses this firewall places on the system look to be awesome. After spending some quality time playing around with this fw, I will have more to say.
One question: Does anyone know if a configuration file - especially for rules - can be saved in case the fw requires re-installation. i would hate to have to re-create all these rules again :o
Thank you in advance.

Fellow Creatures,
I loaded it yesterday, after removing McAfee Personal Firewall which included a registry clean of broken or useless keys. There were not that many. :)
Then I decided to turn off the Launch Pad by clicking tray icon and options and not to launch at start up and then rebooted a second time.
At reboot McAfee stated "Suspicious file recommend Virus scan". I did and it was clean no PUP on infections detected. During all this time BoClean never complained at all. :P McAfee fluke. I guess. I run McAfee with heuristics off.
This firewall so far has operated flawlessly, nice interface everything handy; one click at most to get to what you want to see. McAfee you have to click all over the place it seems not nearly as laid out as nice. Easy to set up too. Still messing with it and evaluating it so...
It's a keeper on my family machine. :) :thumb:

Just in case you are interested, Comodo launch pad can be removed by going to program files and clicking on comodo and you will see two folders one for comodo and one for launch pad. Just delete the launch pad folder and launch pad won't bother you again. I did this several days ago and the firewall still works just fine, it doesn't miss launch pad at all. It works perfect for me but if it doesn't for you you might have to reinstall it, but I don't see that happening as it has worked perfectly on three comps I have done it to.

The rules are kept in the registry but dont get scared because they are protected by the cpf.exe process because registry protection for own keys was added so viruses cant change anything unless cpf was closed which some guy tried with 17 termination programs and cpf detected being closed by all of them.
You just export then import them again on reinstall.

Thanks BigC for the info. For now I'll keep the Launch Pad but keep disabled as I am going to wait and see how the Comodo AV app. works out as it matures. I am sure it will be incorporated into Launch Pad if it were installed. Just not sure of the usefullness of Launch Pad.
Do most consider it extra bloat or clutter. Or is it just the place were all Comodo apps can be dealt within in one GUI. Similar to McAfee Security Center?
Sorry if these questions almost seem stupid. I think I know the answers but just want to make sure. ;)

I had the same problem but even more extensive than that. All of the above would happen, but I would also lose the ip address of my adapter when I tried logging onto another account. ipconfig /renew failed, repair failed, rebooting pc also failed. I discovered that if i shut dowm CPF, I could renew the ip and regain Internet access. Finally resolved it by adding svchost rules for UDp out port 67 and UDP in port 68. In other words to enable DHCP. This may not be the cause of your issue, but if you check Comodo's logs, you may find the answer. That's how I found mine :)

The only two alerts in my Logs are from not allowing Quicken access to one of the ports, whicj i will leave since i don't go online with tht program. I will wait for new release to see what that brings, but I may uninstall AOL AVS before hand to see if that helps. I just switched as I was posting this to see how long it took, and it was around 30 seconds. Not a big deal as switching now didn't take but 3 seconds. It only happens when on one account for awhile. Again maybe this is AVS, but I just can't remember if it was happening the week before installing Comodo or not anymore. Anyway, you have been helpful and I thank you for that. I'll let you know if uninstalling AVS helped or not. Take care.
