Hi everyone! Has anyone tried InVircible? Is this too good to be true?
According to the producer:
"InVircible is based on unique and proven generic technology, that provides for its exceptional performance, WITHOUT DEPENDING ON CRITICAL or FREQUENT UPDATES."
"InVircible was the only protection software that withstood attacks from the BLASTER and SOBIG-F worms, in August 2003, and stopped them in their tracks, WITHOUT REQUIRING ANY UPDATE!"
http://www.invircible.com/invircible.php
"Any InVircible version FROM THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS, detects and prevents Blaster from installing!"
http://www.invircible.com/news/news_details.php?id=76
And last but not least, when my first personal princible to detect the biggest players says: "If you want to find the root cause, PLEASE, FOLLOW THE MONEY!"
And here it stays:
"The Israeli banking industry, with 19,000 users and 1,700 servers, are the largest in-country users of InVircible."
http://www.invircible.com/about.php
When I was trialing that program my eXtendia AVK Pro doesn't conflict InVircible with the resident scanner on but InVircible informed that explorer.exe was trying to execute my wormguard.exe file or something like that!
I found that program as a link from this site:
http://www.checkvir.com/index.php?CN=6&CIE=0
PS. The producer doesn't shame himself at all, when the price of one licence of that program is 60 $!

InVircible is a different type of antivirus compared to programs like KAV or NOD32. It is a generic solution. There has been a lot of discussions in the past about this type of antivirus solutions but as you can see so far InVircible is the only one left to use this approach. I think that says a lot.
Due to the different concept InVircible is excluded from nearly every standard antivirus test. So it is hard to judge wether the product is goood or not. The last time I tried it, I was not really impressed but that was just my personal opinion.

I don't know the first thing about this product, but glancing at Google Groups it seems there hasn't been much chatter about it in YEARS. I found a couple of unflattering reviews too, although I know nothing about the reviewers either.

To Optigrab from firefighter!
I think that you didn't understood my point. I think WormGuard and InVircible are competitors in the same segment. In those InVircible's advertisements they say that it is good against macro viruses and worms.
One of those links you show to us was a mention:
"The tests were performed on our well organized virus collection ([VirLib]), containing 21,986 samples of 5,789 different file viruses. The testing protocol is clearly explained in [Tests]. Of those viruses in our collection, IVSCAN detected 343 or 6% of the viruses and 2425 or 11% of the samples. Just as a means for comparison, one of the top performers, AVP 2.2, detected 21,977 or 99.96% of the samples and 5,777 or 99.86% of the viruses. We are forced to admit that IVSCAN is the worst known-virus scanner we have ever seen. Even MSAV is better than it."
It is hard to believe that they have executed all those 5 789 different virus files that InVircible have to be checked. Remember the last VirusP test on May 2003, when TrojanHunter detected 7,31 % of those trojans and backdoors to be tested, I can't believe anymore TH is so bad either!
There is an other test about InVircible too, but made a bit later than the one you mentioned, June 1997, and there InVircible wasn't so bad at all.

RECOMMENDED PRODUCT:
INVIRCIBLE - A unique approach to anti-virus protection that works equally well in a NetWare or Windows NT environment. By creating files signature it allows virtually all infected files to be repaired and it will disinfect macro viruses on the fly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, I haven't seen any comparison where WormGuard has been with against some 5 700 different viruses either, if you know some, Please, give me a link! No hard feelings and let's continue the mission to find the ultimate truth!
The final thing why I think this program is worth to try, because the Israeli banking industry, with 19,000 users and 1,700 servers are using InVircible protection. Have you heard that to protect Jewish money what ever program is enough? I can't believe that!

Firefighter,
Morgan Cyber Systems http://www.morgan-cybersys.com is selling InVercible. I do not know if they are manufacturing it or not.. ??? ???
So I think the 1997 comparison that you mention is just a promotion for thier product.. ::) ::)

To Minacross from Firefighter!
Thanks for your advice!
When you are going to make clear if programs like InVircible or WormGuard are worth to try, I think you have to own one test PC where you can execute some 100-300 worm and macrovirus files from your collection to check the actual detection rate of these. Unfortunately I don't have such a collection, only some worms!
Usually the customers are convinced to that product via advertisements, that's the situation with WormGuard too I think.
If you have one of the best clients in their own sections, as Israeli Military or Jewish banking Industry are in my mind, that product is more than average I think!
I have had eXtendia AVK Pro resident protection all the time running when I trialed that InVircible, result no conflicts in my mind with them. InVircible found one ILLEGAL program installed that my kids were (again) done to my puter (= cracked zipper), no other program like BitDefender Free, KAV 4.5 Personal, eXtendia AVK Pro and WormGuard, before that InVircible installation, have any clue of that thing.

Firefighter, you evangelize about every new program you discover as if it was Aladdin's Lamp. :-)
I've only been researching the AV/VX hype for 2 weeks and I know nothing about Invircible, but I've already discovered most of the praise for this program is either selectively-edited or an outright fake.
The truth is out there, but you have to search for it. Here are some links to get you started;

To SaracenBlade from Firefighter!
Because I'm a man making decisions not only according to statistics but also according to human behaviour, there have to be something to fear because so much of negative testing reports have made about this InVircible. For example I haven't found such concerning WormGuard, why?
If something is totally worthless, I think it is worth of any word.
I have stated all the time that this InVircible is an add protection to some PC like WormGuard, TrojanHunter or things like that are add protection to your anti-virus program (of course KAV engined ones, a joke you know!).
I'm not interested to know what someone has said about something some five to six years ago, but if the company is still alive, why then?
WormGuard is the same kind of mystery to me but I'm going to try both of them one by one, let's see then how good they really are!
I remember how many pages long thread was that in DSL Report Forum when people were fighting about that how good heuristics NOD has when it detected Swen with adwanced heuristics even though it wasn't a normal scanning characteristic in each NOD scanning mode! What about then when InVircible detected Blaster and Sobig-F worms without any update comparing that Swen issue with NOD for instance?

As I said, I know nothing about the program apart from what I've read. I didn't read every one of the thousands of posts about it in Usenet, but I was apalled by what I did read. The company has a history of lies and deception and even had a virus writer as its USA distributor. Adverse comments about the program and the company greatly outnumber complimentary comments. Most of the adverse comments are not just stupid "It's crap" comments from the peanut gallery, but factual comments based on test reports by well known anti-virus researchers and organizations. Most of the praise has been exposed as solicited, paid for, or fake.
Let me know the results of your tests. I won't be putting it on my comp.(Find and test an old copy to see if the company's claim that a 3 years old version will detect those current viruses.)
The NOD32/Swen thread on DSLR got a bit blown out and boring, but that was what tickled my interest in the AV/VX scene, so I can't complain too much about it. :-)

To SaracenBlade from Firefighter!
I think you are a bit over reacting if I find some new program, I'll throw every second away!!!
Because I am not a virus collector, I can't do any bigger test but at least InVircible was capable to detect;
a worm: Win32/HLLW.SdDrop.C
Backdoor: IRC/SdBot
Backdoor: Win32/MindControl.5_0
all of them according to RAV antivirus. So it is capable to detect trojans too when I expect only worms and macroviruses.
Unfortunately I can't find any older version of InVircible anymore, but when I threw 3 different samples, so according to that 6 % detection rate in one of those tests, it was very good result to detect them all now!

Firefighter!
