Using F-secure at home, but considering changing my mom's AV from eTrust (free from her ISP) to AOL Active Virus Shield. Certainly a stripped-down KAV clone is appealing, but eTrust has dedicated email scanning. I'd say knowing my mom's surfing habits that email vulnerability is the biggest concern. But I also realize that AOL Active Virus Shield will scan email-borne malware before it loads.

I'd also add that I like the unobtrusiveness and lightness of eTrust on my mom's machine.

Opinions?

AOL ActiveVirusShield has file and mail scanner, but it DOESN'T have a Web scanner and Proactive Defense. So mail WILL be scanned by AOL KAV version.

In addition AOL Active VS 's detection rate is much bigger than Etrust's since it uses Kaspersky's definitions .

Well, i think thats really the most obvious thing about Kaspersky itself...

Thanks RejZoR for setting me straight on this point. It doesn't appear that the eTrust version run here has anything similar to Web scanner or Proactive Defense either, so it seems nothing is sacrificed by switching to AOL ActiveVirusShield.
