Is it just coincidence that after I installed spyware blasters my audio quit working or does it have to do with windows media player ???

It shouldn't interfere with your audio files.

Are you sure you don't have the mute button enabled? Or you didn't inadvertently uninstalled important codecs beforehand? Make sure you do have the proper codecs installed for the right type of media files.

One thing you could do is use a program called GSpot to find out if you do have the proper codecs installed.
