replacing spysweeper with something else other than SAS

any other alternitives to spysweeper other than SAS ?
like is prevx antispyware and hips? or just hips?

how does a squared payed version compare in detection to spysweeper and SAS?

heres some antispyware alternatives:

spyware doctor
spyware terminator
windows defender
counterspy
ewido antispyware (just in name)

ewido and a-squared are more targeted against trojans than spyware/adware.

im looking for antispyware light antispyware real time which isnt SAS.

I do quite like the look of prevx but dont know much about the resourse useage of it?

any comments on the resourse usage of online armour?

I assume you do not like SAS as it is too heavy.
I am not sure which AS applications are the lightest, but Counterspy has to be about the heaviest anti-malware going.

I admit that I have not found even Counterspy to impact my system performance. As long as I don't notice it, then the resource usage does not bother me.

I'll be interested in what you find in the way of light AS applications.

Prevx1 runs ok on my computer but it is slightly memory consuming. its best if u try it urself.

as for Online Armor. its very light like prevx its not an antispyware. It more of an HIPS.

another realtime antispyware u could try is Trend Micro AntiSpyware.

My work colleague uses Zerospyware. I've tried it. Liked it. If you are into lots of toys and settings and a plethora of tools then you may like it. It does run light and offers 'live' 24 hour support so you can chat to an agent through an interface link in the application. I tried it and connected to an agent within a couple of minutes. Looks real nice too. I would say it's definately head and shoulders in front of other AS application's in regards to it's looks. It also does a very good job at stopping spyware.

You can adjust the menus, and turn off the splash screen in SUPERAntiSpyware Professional....

SUPERAntiSpyware is also one of the "lighter" real-time applications on the market today.

I trialed SAS for over a week and never received a single definition update, not one! I thought perhaps it was "updating on it's own" without any user notification (like most security apps do by telling you about it via a pop-up window or balloon), but nope - nothing. I also tried to "manually update" several times but was told each time that there were "no updates available". So I ran it resident and tried manually for over a week without a single known update taking place. And nowhere in the GUI is there anything that mentioned when the "last update took place". :-\

Is your firewall blocking the updates? A window does show when the definitions are updated, and the version of the updates is listed on the main screen of SUPERAntiSpyware as Core and Trace definitions (the numbers match what is posted on the web daily so you can see what was updated/added).

It is likley your firewall blocking access. Are you using a proxy by chance?
