Have used TI 8 successfully with Windows 98 machine in the past. Now have on my Toshiba XP laptop and have been able to create and verify image backup on a USB drive. However, I've updated the original retail TI 8 to build 937 from the website. Now Computer stops while booting from rescue disk. Would this problem recur with TI 9, perhaps due to some peculiarity with Toshiba?
Thanks.

If you post the model number of your Toshiba, you might find an owner of the same model who can tell you his/her experiences.

Hello Oldbarry,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
We are sorry for the delayed response.
I believe this is the same issue as you have described in this thread (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=139006) your started earlier. If so please try booting with "acpi=off noapic" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317).
Note that since you use an older version of Acronis True Image you should press F11 button when the "Starting Acronis Loader..." message appears and not when the selection screen appears (Acronis True Image 8.0 Bootable Rescue CD does not have any selection screen).
If that did not help please follow the instructions given by Fedor, download and install the free trial version of Acronis True Image 9.0 (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/trueimage/), create a new bootable CD using version 9.0 and see if the issue persists. Please uninstall the previous version of Acronis True Image prior to the installation of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home.
If the issue persists with the bootable CD created with Acronis True Image 9.0 Home, please boot your computer from this CD once again and Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317). Then submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/). Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.
Thank you.
