Hi to all on this forum

I am a new user and quite satisfied with the product but have a question.

I started using the product from a trial bases. It preformed fine. I then purchased a hard copy, following the instructions; I installed the copy over the trial version.

When I completed a full backup I then wanted to check its integrity, it insure that it would re-do my hard drive, but was told by the system that the backup was not a true .tib image? What did I do wrong? Has anyone else had this issue?

I should say again that prior to loading the hard copy program the trial version worked just great. It also told me that some of the files would be replacing new ones and did I wish to do this and I choose no. To get the program to run properly I removed it and then re-installed the CD hard copy. All seems ok now but I am worried about the reliability of the back up. May I assume that when creating a backup, if you cannot check its integrity with the system then it may not work?

If you bought the CD version in a store there is a good chance it is an older version.

At build 3567 Acronis changed the "engine" in True Image which caused the image file format to be changed. If you created your images using a current trial version (build 3567 or later) and your purchased version is earlier than 3567 then it will not understand the archive file(s).

The later versions can read the archives created with earlier versions though, ie, it is backwards compatible.

If this is the case then the solution is to download the latest build which you can get by registering on the Acronis website. Be sure you create a new recovery media after you install the new version.

You can tell what build you have by looking at the top of the Help About screen.

To Seekforever:

Yes you are right BUT. Build purchased is version 9.0 build 2323!

Problem is, after registering on site I am told that there is no current version upgrade! Obviously from your answer, there is but the question is how do I get it? Are these folks trying to fool me?

And yes, also about old files or backups. I recognize that they most probably will not be recognized or associated with old files and new ones need to be created.

Thank you for your reply and can you help further?

You should be able to go from Product Updates on the main Acronis page to another page (Updates) that has a blue link Product Updates page. This link should take you to another page that has the Available Updates for My Registered Products. This page is only available after you register/log in. This should work. Perhaps if you just set it up it needs a bit of time??

If somebody else has had problems with this, perhaps they can help more.

Thanks Again,

I missed a screen or check box at registering. The company sent me a link
and I put in my install code and downloaded Build 3677; I assume this is the most up to date version available. All’s right with the world!
