humm...this topic looks familar ;)
Well...i think my avatar actually found me. There i was surfing some new boards when i came across this pink square with blue eyes (picture Mew all stretched out to fit a 90x90 avatar space) ewwww...it was crying "save me! save me!"
So i took it home and cleaned it up, gave it its shots, fed it, then made some li'l hats to put on it now and then. Kind of grew on me, so i kept it! ;D

I stole the basic design, mutilated it beyond recognition and had a pro (well, she should be) make it look acceptable again. ;)

I made mine, literally. It started out a piece of white dyers cloth. After I dyed it I photographed it and scanned the pic into the computer. I then manipulated the pic to be the correct pixel size for an avatar.

;D Thanks spydespiser. Love the 1 with his head spinning. Wish I could use it as my Avatar. Too big (197x154 pixals). Do you know how I could reduce it to 60x60? I tried with Kodak Imaging but couldn't do it. Any help appreciated. ;D ;D

I surfed free avatar sites and found this one.
Why a wolf howling at the moon?
A few reasons for me...
Howlin' Wolf of blues fame.
I saw a wolf about a mile from my house while driving home from work a few years ago.
He was huge and never flinched!
His just watched me from a bare hayfield.
Hey that Beetlejuice avatar is cool!!!
Nice find!

Anyway as i was saying in Opera before it collapsed around my ears:D
Hi Beetlejuice, sorry for delay i've got to use AoL's browser again for a mo,, technical probs and all that! :D
Where was i,Oh yes. :D
I dont think i could be much help on that front as i'm pretty new to all this posting and stuff meself, i think Snapdragin is the little animator amongst our ranks, she did something on a mispelt one in FAQ
Also in there are a load of tips and diff' methods of doing stuff ;)
RE: 197x154 : i think when you upload it it just get squashed to 60x60 so it shouldn't be too bad, maybe the other peeps have some info/tips&tricks on that for U 8)
Edit- maybe it would come out proportionately i.e approx 60x45 :-/
Sorry i couldn't be more productive :)
Hi Tester 8), nearly had that one meself to tide me over :D
Anyway and good luck, if i come across anything of importance i'll post it
Looks like its back to Gremlin killing in Opera now :D :D :D

See this thread (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=11714;start=msg90191#msg90191) regarding what the board software does about avatar uploads.
Since that avatar is not square, you must start by getting it square before resizing it, otherwise it'll really mess it up. Here's a square version with little or no quality loss. However, reducing the size to 60x60 may really lower the quality unless a pro (like snap) does it.

Hi Marti,
hope you don't mind ::)
I looked at the animation and there are 2 "bad frames" in it :o I removed the 2 and now it looks like this

Hi Marianna,
I also took them out in my most recent attempt. However, instead of saving the pic as a continuous animation, I had it stop after one loop. However, beetlejuice can use whatever he wants. ;D I was having fun playing!

i should not interfere; marti and Marianna did such a great job...tucks cookies in both their napsacks...but my curiosity got the best of me, and i wanted to see what bad frames they were talking about. i took the one that LWM resized, but i couldn't see any bad frames? But since i had Animationshop up, LOL..i thought i'd play with it too. So i slowed it down a bit...made the background transparent and sharpened him up a bit, and gave him a few new bugz.
i love Beetlejuice! (i still have the doll) ROFL.

" }-
Nope..i can't :( Well.....i can get it down to 16kb without too much quality loss by reducing the colours to 63, but any lower than that it starts to get awfully grainy.
i had kept all 8 frames from LWM's post, then added an extra frame at the end so Opera users won't see that weird rendering thing Opera loves to do when viewing animation, plus that extra frame at the end adds that bit more time before the head begins to do it's famous spin...LOL So, with the extra frame added, the slower speed, and keeping it at 256 colours; adds to the overall size of the animation (19kb). But it's still under the 20kb limit, barely though. LOL

I saw a gif image I would love as my Avatar but I haven't the slightest idea how to go about it.
Apart from that I can't even remember where I saw it.
It was a lttle American Indian sending up a smoke signal with a blanket.
Anyone ever seen it in their travels?

;D Hi Cochise. Glad you found your avatar. You'll need to open your "Profile" (button on top of any page here. Up by where it says Wilders.org.)
Scroll down to a section that says (1.) "I have my own pic." There you will see a browse button. Push it and select where you have stored your avatar, I.E C:windows\My Pictures, (if it's stored on your machine).
If it's not stored on your machine, go to the site that has it. Right click it. Select Save As. Pick directory of your choice, and save it there. Then come back to your profile page and do step 1. Then scroll to bottom of profile page and click the "save changes" button.
Hope this has helped.
PS. Almost forgot Avatars can only by 60x60 pixals in size and no bigger than 20Kb.

If that is the one (thanks Marianna), it probably could be adjusted by one of the pros to look a little better at 60x60 pixels. But, take a look at how it is right now and see what you think.
