Hi,
we try to migrate W2k from an old server to a new one. We show Acronis where to take the driver but in the window where the choosed options are shown always appears: "operating system driver: yes"
We can´t recognize if Acronis try to use the supposed driver.
And of course, it doesn´t work. We can´t boot the new system. ("inaccessible bootdevice..")
We´re looking forward to an answer, we have to get it running again.
Thanks and regard from Germany.
(excuse my english):-\

Hello kirschke,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Server Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATISWin/).
We are sorry for the delayed response.
Please note that the user-defined drivers have the priority. They will be installed, with appropriate warning, even if the program finds the better driver. The message "operating system driver: yes" means that Windows default drivers (in the image being restored) will be used if the user-defined is not accessible for some reasons.
I would recommend that you make sure that you use the latest build (3677) (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/support/updates/) of Acronis True Image 9.1 Server for Windows and also the latest build of Acronis Universal Restore. To get access to updates you should first register (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/registration/) your software. Please note that the latest build of German version of Acronis True Image 9.1 Server for Windows is 3641.
Please note that this issue most likely is not related with Acronis Universal Restore. Could you please explain your step-by-step actions which you took that led you to this error. Did you create the image of the entire hard drive or of the system partition only? Did you try to restore the entire hard drive or system partition only? Please also create Acronis Report in the way described below:
- Download and run Acronis Report Utility;
- Select the "Create Bootable Floppy" option;
- Insert a blank floppy disk in the A: drive and proceed with creation of the bootable floppy;
- Boot the computer (the one you have restored image archive to) from this diskette and wait for report creation process to finish;
- Collect the report file from the floppy.
Then submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/my/support/). Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.
Thank you.

Restore the image on the new server, now boot the new server with Windows 2000 Server CD, preferrably an SP4 Slipstreamed version
Press F6 immediately during bootup to specify drivers, load the drivers from floppy for the raid or scsi or sata controller the new server has.
Once at the main setup screen, Press ENTER to start a setup, it will identify an existing install, press R to repair that install, now the system will do an upgrade from your current install to w2000 (preferrably sp4), checking all the system drivers like video, chipset, disk. This preserves all your settings/data!!
Once its finished it will boot into windows, login and run Windows Update to catch all the post sp4 hotfixes
