I really would like to make use of the OSS, but it seems to me it is intended to be used by the Acronis program developers who developed the program. There is no manual intelligible to "laymen" is available. The portion of the Disk Director manual devoted to OSS tells us what the program can do, but not the steps to achieve the results, and the few discussion threads in this forum concerning OSS are coming from tech-savvies who are comparing notes how to tweak the boot.ini.
It's high time that Acronis issued intelligile manual for OSS. But before that, can any one please help with my problematic attempt at using OSS.
I am using Shuttle XPC which can accommodate only one hard drive, so installing the second OS in another drive is out of the question. I tried to "Copy" my existing OS, Windows XP, Home ed, I succeeded in my laptop but not in my desktop. BUt even in my laptop, after the copying the OS, my laptop crawled which is exactly the opposite of the result I intended to get form the execise.
Next, I tried to reinstall my OS to Drive D (on the same disk as C). As was suggested in my previous discussion, I made Drive D "Primary" and "Active." Then I restored to it the TI back-up of Drive C without the MBR (also suggested in my previous discussion). After that I deactivated and reactivated OSS. The problem is that OSS recognizes only the original OS.
What did I do wrong.
