Hi there I am looking for a program that will assist me in migrating data from one PC to another.

Because I am copying over only specific files/folders to a new system I have been trying to use the build in WinXP copy feature.

This has been a extremely big pain though as I will almost more often than not come across a file that I am not allowed to copy and then thhe copy closes making me have to locate where the copy stopped. Which is an extreme annoyance.

My question is does anyone know a program that will either allow you to skip a problematic file or just copy anything it wants to?

It needs to be able to copy from one ntfs drive to another and not have to worry about the HAL. (so ghost is out of the question)

Thanks in advance,

You can move documents such as word and excel without any problem. Most applications must be reloaded with a new OS. NTFS also complicates matter.

I burned my documents on a CD (because I don't have DVD's yet) on my old computer and copied them back on my new computer. You can burn alot of word/excel-files on a CD of 650 MB.

You can also copy data to a USB pen drive. On sale for about $7 (512MB) and $15 (1GB). Add/remove data just like a very large floppy drive. Transfer speed is around 9MB/sec under good condition.

Thanks for the reply's everyone.

I believe that my previous post may have been confusing.
I am not requesting information on media to be used to copy data over to. I am looking for a program that will copy data on a media no matter if the data is corrupted or not or if there is restricting permissions on it.

I know the second item maybe very unlikely but there must be a program that will copy over corrupted data or atleast ignore the corrupted item and carry on to the next item to be moved over.

Thanks again for the posts and thanks in advance to any future posts,
