View Full Version : OS Selector doesn't find independent XP partition

Hi,

My disk has 2 completely independent XP partitions.

Each XP doesn't know the other one exists. To choose which partition to
boot, I would use an MBR tool to set that partition ACTIVE.

After installing OS Selector on the XP1 partition, it did not list
the XP2 partition as one of the selections. When I pointed the
OS Detector Wizard at the XP2 partition, it said that it could not
find any OS installed.

I found the entry about editing the XP1 boot.ini file. I added XP2 to
the boot.ini file. Then updated OS Selector. Then changed the XP2
icon parition map to make XP2 the ACTIVE (C:) parition.

This seems to work.

1) Is there anything else I need to do? Or, is that it?

2) Why doesn't the OS Detector Wizard see XP partitions?

Regards,

jsb

Hello jburnett4096,

Thank you for using Acronis Disk Managing Software (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/diskdirectorsuite/)

Please note that OS Selector detects new operating system by looking at the contents of boot.ini file or searching primary active partitions with operating systems on your hard drive.

So you have done all correctly.

If you have any other questions or encounter any problems please feel free to contact us again. We will certainly try to help you.

Thank you.
