Hello,
My system started rebooting itself about twice an hour after resizing a partition with Disk Director. I would like to know if simply uninstalling the Acronis software is an option and what risks it might carry.
Alternatively, are there any risks in simply reinstalling Windows (XP Pro) onto the partition that was resized in order to try to solve my problem?
TIA for any help provided.

Hmm if you've paid for the software, I think I'd raise a support ticket on that one.
I'd say that the registry settings for your hardrives and partition info are out of wack.
Do you have OSS installed as well? If so, then you'd need to de-activate and uninstall this before playing with anything else - such as DD or remaking the boot sector.
I'm not sure if performing a Windows repair would solve this or maybe remaking the boot sector - with fixboot using the recovery console.

Thanks for your reply Colin.

I have; just wanted to ask for other opinions.

Perhaps but without knowing what to look for it's hard to say. I've got a folder full of dump files from the fault which I don't know what to do with either.

Nope.

I guess I'd be a little concerned that Windows wouldn't have the appropriate filesystem state in the repair info. I suppose I could try that as long as I'm ready to reinstall the OS.
Thanks,
Jeff
