View Full Version : Why does Ewido need to access my hosts file?

On reboot, ZoneAlarm pops up a warning that Ewido tries to change my network settings in Windir/drivers/etc/hosts. What is Ewido trying to do to my hosts file, and does allowing Ewido to do this lock the hosts file?

Because sometimes when I need to change my hosts file to unblock something or create an exclusion in HostsMan, I get a message that another program is using the hosts file. Usually, the program is WinPatrol, but could it also be Ewido? What effect does denying Ewido access to the hosts file on boot do to Ewido and its protection status? The fewer programs that need to use the hosts file the better.
