Client Man

last night my daughter was sitting at the computer and she kept getting a pop up - a small box that said '****' and it said, can't connect, with a red X. It popped up continually. It wasn't listed as a pop up in my pop up killer.

I scanned the system with spybot search & destroy, and it found client man. Messed around with it and got rid of it. I haven't opened my daughter's screen name to be sure that is what caused her pop up, but I think it was.

I do my updates fairly often for spyware blaster and spywareguard.(at least once/week) At that point, I went to check to be sure they were up - to - date, and there was a new spywareblaster. However, I discovered that my spywareblaster was corrupted that was on my system. I am assumming that client man did this to it. I have no way to prove this, but I thought you might want to know. I uninstalled it and installed the new version, and everything seems to be great again. (until this client man comes knocking again, perhaps!)

Just me again - does anyone know - I was reading more about client man. I read that it automatically changes settings in zone alarm to allow it permission to access the internet. I did find it in zone alarm - with permission. Should I either check off to not give it permission? or should I check to remove it? I am assuming that spybot removed it all as it claims to have.

Hm well I don't know anything about it myself; but if it alters a firewall it wouls sound more like a Trojan to me! I hope it's gone but there may be need of further investigation - hopefully someone with knowledge of this nasty will read this soon!

I really appreciate your input in this - and your time to look at it! I was surprised to see crescendo on there - and stopzilla. They haven't been on the computer for a while now. I ran a registry checker a friend suggested that I run, and it got rid of a lot of pieces of programs that had been removed - but not those! but I don't understand enough to know on my own what should and shouldn't be removed. (other than sometimes there are some obvious ones).
Now - I hope I don't get client man again! It was more than just a nuisance spyware! How dare it corrupt my spywareblaster and go right thru my zone alarm!! >:(
