The Cleaner:

Got/tried trial ver. of this app; it claimed a Firewall LeakTest from Gibson Research to be a trojan. Uh... assuming this is a FP, I have to wonder what was in Steve Gibson's Leaktest that set off alarm bells in The Cleaner?

Said file/s happened to be buried in the System Restore Info DIR, on drive D, and D: and E: drives are for "My Junk" files and may be from past debris as I shifted/copied stuff from one drive to another over time; but, still, I wonder about the Cleaner's finding on this... Does it perhaps bear a closer need of scrutiny?

imho...the cleaner isn't that much of a cleaner anymore ... maybe few years back (cause it's one of the first with Antitrojan capacities) .. sorry to say but I wouldn't rely on it ...

In March 2006 AV-comparatives reported on tests of antitrojans. The Cleaner was not included in that test . . .

Ntl did run tests 2 years back in which The Cleaner performed worse (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=590044#post590044) at detecting modified trojans than free anti-virus scanners like AVG/Avast/ClamAV (it came second bottom, above Pest Patrol). Since this is the area where a specialised anti-trojan should excel in, I'd suggest considering something else if you feel you need a secondary malware scanner.
