??? Mr. Blaze...don't know your O/S. But if it is WinXP, this looks like the place to go (as it appears you are having problems with WindowsUpdate, which may be a separate issue):

I can't find a kit for a Windows ME version. The only link so far when talking ME and that patch just points back to Windows Update itself. :-\

Blaze - If you are getting an error when it goes to install this specific patch on your system, then maybe we need to find the Windows Update log file and see if the error is something simple. I don't know where that log is on Windows ME. It could be in a "WindowsUpdate" folder, or in Windows or below it. (Anyone know where it'd be on ME?)

Well, sometimes the windows update log does show an error that can be corrected. (Often not, but still it's worth looking at.)

On my Windows XP system the log is here:

"c:\WINNT\Windows Update.log"

I hope it might help a little bit, but don't get excited too soon ::) Other things might be causing your problem; at the moment I don't know.....

I will put here now a screenshot of that tool on my Windows 98 SE box while it is looking at that update.
Don't bother that I have the Dutch version of Windows.

Hmm, I'd have to agree with you.

Up above here I said something about finding the windows update log file, and I listed where mine is on XP, but I don't know where it is on Windows ME. It could in \Windows\ or even be under \Program Files\WindowsUpdate\ (or something like that). It should be a lengthy log file you can read in Wordpad. It might have logged errors from the patch installation, if it did fail.

I'm sure that it normally would be viewable and should not be in use. Perhaps you have some updater process runing in the back ground that needs to be stopped. Or, maybe it'll be free after a reboot, but before opening any other programs. (All else fails - safe mode ;) ).

you just have to go in to add and remove and remove the old patch and delet any 823559 useing a search

after all old823559 are remove hit windows update algain and you now see this wooooooooooo hoooo ;D
