I reside in USA, <snip> If you want a background from me, I am currently a teenager, however, I have designed many video games, and hope to make myself a career there someday. I have recently received a virus calling itself "Contravirus", it poses as an anti-virus program to try to scam you into buying its premium versions. It does so by installing itself on your computer, and annoying you until you click it, and when you click it it says there are a lot of viruses on your computer, stating they are potentially dangerous and linking you onto the webpage for buying the premium versions. I thought this was suspicious since it just "appeared", so I looked it up online, found out IT was the virus, and it is hard to delete, so I came here in hopes of deleting it, because it is VERY annoying. That's my story, and I am hoping this program works, if it does I plan to purchase the premium version of it.

I'm an American by birth, and have lived all over the world by virtue of my military service. I've now lived in northern Japan for the last 15 years, and have for the most part retired here since I have two children by a Japanese wife.

I absolutely love WSF, and from here discovered NOD32, BOClean and Prevx, which form the core of my computer protection. And, of course, I love to visit just to see what's happening on the security scene!

4+ years on so Ill add another one.

I'm in a village called Bacup in East Lancashire Pennine hills, England.
Been a programmer since 1980 when my ZX80 and 81 had as much memory as some mainframes in use. First commercial 'program' i wrote using a card punch, hehe.
When my company bought a DEC VAX with 10mb of RAM and a 500mb hdd, we thought it was awesome, cost about £400,000. Mind you it did compile large programs in about half a second.
Still love that machine.

What I can't figure is that after nearly 30 years since VAX/VMS operating systems, we still have to put up with x86 processors and crappy Windows, which is not much more than a nicer looking CPM/MPM machine ??? ??? ???

WOW. Boy do you guys make me feel like a newby. But what the heck, I am a newby. My first computer experience was with Windows 95 in 1999.

I was born in Texas. Moved around with the Air Force to Mississippi and Illinois and back to Texas. Stayed in Amarillo til 1969. Then stayed in San Antonio til 1982. Moved to New England where I lived in South Vermont then North New Hampshire. Since Oct 2002 I live in Indianapolis. I've found that I love the climate in Indiana.

I have been here over a year and haven't replied to this :-[

I am 5th generation of my family to live in this area, Pike Co., Mississippi. My great-great-great grandfather settled into this area around 1812. He came from Georgia but the trail went cold there. My great-great grandfather built a log house not too far from here back in 1856 and it is still being used. I was told that our surname was Irish which means "one who lives 'down the way' ".

I started fooling with computers back in 1986 when I signed up for an NRI computer repair correspondence course. I had to put together a Sanyo MBC-550 (http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=1&c=473) at the end of the course. Since then I have had a couple of Tandy's (I was sad when they stopped making computers), a Compaq (never again) and a couple of Dells.

I am an Automotive Component Procurer (PC name I made up for partsman ;D ) at a local GM dealership. I help the SysAdmin from time to time though I am not too knowledgeable about networking. I mainly upgrade, replace components, install or update software, etc the workstations.

Sparkymachine, I remember punching out chads with a toothpick on Wang punch cards. I also remember taking a stack of machine punched cards to the University computer center and going back the next day or two for the results. Remember the now extinct occupation of "key punch operator"?

I'm from Baguio City, Philippines. But, now working in Bangkok, Thailand. Both countries are in Asia.

I think majority of IT professionals and geeks are men! I belong to the minority. I'm a newbie in Linux. Hope you guys can help. Thanks. Happy computing!

Okay, not really into this, but from New Jersey (Nue Juwrsee), U.S.A..

Actually joined because I was hoping to immediately resolve an issue with PC Tools Spyware Doctor finding two Trojans (serious system files in Windows XP Pro SP3), whereas ESET NOD32 finding none. Who's telling the truth?

End of story.>:(
